OOSIK WALRUS PENILE BONE MASSIVE these bones are know in the animal anatomy world as baculum, found in the penis of some mammals, oosiks as they are called by Alaska natives is the bone that is found inside a walrus penis.  Oosik bone is very dense and this one was buried for centuries and was excavated and has acquired a lovely brown color due to the wet soil it was recovered from.  They were traditionally used as a club for fish and mammals by the coastal Alaskan native peoples. Here we have an exceptional specimen 23" long and weighing in at 2 pounds and 2 1/2 ounces, it is one of the longest and heaviest we have had in our 45 years of business and certainly the most beautiful being hand sanded and polished, a time consuming job.
